The Olympic Park

The main action will be happening at the Olympic Park in Stratford, East London. In the gardens between the Olympic Stadium and the Aquatics Centre, they'll be hills and Big Screens (a British tradition from watching Tim Henman lose at Wimbledon every year) so you can watch the sports in a fun, picnic style atmosphere.

In the south of the Park, expect riverside markets, bars and cafes or if you want to retreat from the hustle and bustle, head to the North where you'll find rare species of animals and eco-friendly projects.

Finally, there's Art in the Park - trust London to throw as much culture into this sporting event as possible. We're intrigued by the Clouds Bridge, the View Tube and Poetry in the Park, to name a few.

Jonathan Edwards, the Olympic gold medal-winning triple jumper, has narrated a video and audio tour of the Olympic Park so once you're there, make sure you listen to it whilst standing on The Greenway - the main walkway through the Park.

Seventeen thousand athletes and officials will stay in the Olympic Village, located in the Olympic Park and within walking distance of the venues. Sneak in and take a look at the Village Plaza, a communal square for athletes to mix with family and friends, and you might even get an autograph.
